When we check into a hotel in the US, our only relationship
purpose with the front desk staff is for payment and keys, right? Or maybe they
can answer a few questions here and there?
This is NOT true here, or at least not what we’ve
experienced…
The front desk guys have become like family to us! Meet Lucas,
Filipe, and Hermano.
Hermano and Lucas took us out to teach us how to Samba last night!!
If you have Facebook, you can see a video of where we live with a special debut of Filipe!!!
We see them everyday- Lucas in the morning, Filipe in the
afternoon, and Hermano at night! They help us with our Portuguese, and we help
them with their English. They tell us fun places to explore. They translate for
us. They protect us and make sure we are safe. They make us laugh every time we
see them! I honestly could not imagine this trip without them. We really have
become good friends. Our “Profe” at UFPR (professor at the university) asked us
the other day if we lived with a host family. We said, “Yes! We live with our
L’Avenue family!” :)
It’s going to be so weird when we get back home without
them! If you are reading this, DESCULPE that it’s not in Portuguese… haha!
Muito obrigada amigos.
