In order to incorporate cultural awareness into my teaching,
I would first make sure I know my students. From there, I could see what
cultures we already have in play in the classroom. We could go deeper into
every student’s culture by sharing. Another way would be to use technology. We
could Skype classrooms in other countries! Even more, we could read books about
many cultures. We could learn another language (we are doing this now in my
classroom- I’m teaching them Portuguese!) There are several ways to incorporate
cultural awareness in the classroom. I hope to be able to integrate it into the
curriculum very often. Hopefully our trip to Brazil will help us learn more about
that!
